The Volvo brand has been bought & sold quite a few times in the last few years. It is now owned by a Chinese company called Geely. You may never of heard of them however they are a big player in the Asian car world.

In 2017 Volvo was owned by Ford. The Volvo V40 is based around the platform of the Ford Focus. This is a good thing as Ford has never built a bad Focus. In the V40 you get the agility of the Focus matched to the renowned quality and safety associated with Volvo.

The V40 is a 5Dr hatchback and you could compare it against the BMW 1 Series, Mercedes A Class and Audi A3 Sportback. Personally its a car that has flown under my radar. Its not something i would usually consider when looking at the premium hatchback sector. I would however definitely look at the V40 thanks to its handsome looks, great specification and specious cabin.

This V40 is a T3 which means it is powered by a 2.0L 4-Clinder Turbo Petrol engine that develops 153 BHP. In this car power is sent to the front wheels via a slick shifting 6-Speed manual gearbox.

The V40 is offered in a variety of trim levels from ES, Inscription, Momentum to like this car R Design. Think of R Design as Volvo’s version of M-Sport, AMG Line or S-Line. You get a nice set of bi-colour 19″ Alloy Wheels, Sporty front seats, an elegant body styling kit and LED Headlights.

In conclusion if you want a slightly left field choice of premium hatchback with a good looks, great spec and in this car very low mileage at a great price this Volvo V40 maybe the car for you.
